Haven Hub: 10/13-10/19 (2024)

Welcome to the Haven Hub!

A weekly update from Haven Student Ministry!

We are thrilled to share with you the latest developments in our mission to make a positive impact in our students’ lives and help them grow in their walk with Jesus.

In this newsletter you can expect to find:

  • Haven Daily Devos

  • Details for upcoming events

  • A glimpse into what we’re teaching your students every week

  • Resources for Parents

  • Our devos are short video reflections geared towards the students and what they've been learning. They are posted on several social media platforms (including podcast) each morning Monday through Friday.

We ask parents to encourage their students to listen to it, or to listen to the devotionals together! It is an opportunity for students to reflect on and connect with what they'll have learned about during Sunday School and Wednesday Night.

  • Our Sunday School and Youth Group lessons for this week are based off of Nehemiah 1-2:8.

Verse of the Week: "“O Lord, let Your ear be attentive to the prayer of Your servant, and to the prayer of Your servants who delight to fear Your name.” Nehemiah 1:11a

Here are a few questions you can ask your kids to help engage with them throughout the week:

    1. How do you think Nehemiah became a person who so believed in God’s promises that he would weep over sin that separates him from those promises?

    2. How do we become people who know and hold fast to the promises of God?

    3. When you receive hard news, what is your first response? What would it look like for you to make prayer your first response? How can you invite others in to help you?

    4. Which tends to be easier for you—prayer or planning? How do we find the confidence to pray and the strength to obey?

    Main Takeaway:
Even though we fail, God’s word never will. Prayer is our response to God’s power, and obedience is our response to God’s mercy.

  • We're here to come alongside you as you disciple your children!

Here is one resource we thought might be helpful to you this week:

"Parents Are the Primary Disciple-Makers of Their Children" Over the past few weeks we've been sending out resources on how you, as the parent, should be your student's primary discipler...here's one more! Additionally, if you're looking for a good family devotional book that you can go through together, then Be Thou My Vision by Jonathan Gibson is a great place to start! It is a liturgy or daily worship and devotion. It's also great for personal worship.

We pray that this is edifying and beneficial to you as you walk through life with your students, and want to remind you that we here at Haven are here for not just your kids, but for you as well! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you’re going through difficulties of any kind.
